Aleix Espargaro has been criticised by Enea Bastianini for his on-track tactics in the Solidarity Grand Prix.
In his final MotoGP race as a full-time rider, Aleix Espargaro managed to irritate his rivals on the track.
During the Solidarity Grand Prix, Espargaro spent the majority of his race in fourth place, behind his best friend and 2024 MotoGP Champion, Jorge Martin.
Espargaro was involved in a battle with the Lenovo Ducati rider, Enea Bastianini. The Italian rider ended up finishing the race in seventh place, whereas the Spaniard finished in fifth.
“I am not happy about what Aleix did," Bastianini said after the race. "For me, it’s not correct. He is not the teammate [of Martin]. It was not a clean thing. Without the fight with Aleix, it was probably possible to do something more for myself.
“He did the whole race for Martin! Of course, he is friends with Jorge. But you can’t do something like this. I am not really happy about today. It was the last race with Ducati and I didn’t do the race like my expectation.
“I tried to do the maximum but I suffered from the start with the front. This has happened many times. I was fast in the sprint but, for the long race, we felt something. I lost many times at the start. I lost with Aleix today. It was impossible to do more than my result.”
Espargaro reacted to Bastianini's comments about his riding after the race.
"I was waiting for him to fight with me at the end," Espargaro responded. "But he was ten seconds behind, on a factory Ducati!"
