Joan Mir is ready for an 'instense start' to the MotoGP season

Honda HRC Castrol

The 2025 season will be a crucial year for Joan Mir and Honda after two difficult years together.

It is no secret that the 2020 MotoGP World Champion has never been the same since his title success. However, the worst time for Joan Mir so far has been his two years with Honda.

The Spaniard joined the Japanese manufacturer in 2023 after Suzuki left MotoGP, but since then he has not finished inside the top 20 in the standings. Mir's best result with Honda throughout 40 Grands Prix and 40 Sprint Races with the manufacturer has been fifth place.

The 2025 MotoGP season will be Mir's third year with the Honda Factory Racing Team. His previous two years with Honda had been in Repsol colours, but now he will ride for the Honda HRC Castrol Team.

Mir's 2025 season will begin next week as the Sepang Test starts on Wednesday the fifth of February. The 27-year-old has labelled the upcoming start of the season as 'an intense start to the year'.

"First of all, I have to say that the bike looks incredible – the new colours are different to what we have seen in the past, but they are strong and it will be a pleasure to wear them.

"We enter this new season with clear goals as we continue to work on improving the bike, the team and ourselves. It will be an intense start to the year, straight to two tests after the winter, but this will allow us to get back up to speed quickly.

"I am looking forward to seeing what our engineers, and our new partners at Castrol, have been working on over the winter."
