Jorge Martin has been declared fit for the Qatar Grand Prix

The 2024 MotoGP World Champion will participate in his first race weekend as an Aprilia Racing rider at the Qatar Grand Prix.

Jorge Martin has been passed fit by the MotoGP medical staff after undergoing a fitness test on Thursday at the Lusail International Circuit.

The Aprilia Racing rider has not participated in the opening three rounds of the 2025 MotoGP season due to injury.

The Aprilia Racing star has been on the sidelines since injuring his right hand and left foot at the Sepang Test.

Then, a training crash ahead of the season opener resulted in Martin suffering a complex fracture of the radius and scaphoid in the left hand and an ipsilateral calcaneal fracture.

Despite his limited experience on the Aprilia RS-GP, the reigning World Champion will be thrown into the deep end this weekend for the Qatar Grand Prix.

"I am really happy to be back, it has been two really hard months for me," Martin told MotoGP.com.

"I have worked a lot, nobody knows how hard I have worked to be here today. I need to understand my condition, I don't know how I am on the physical side.

"I also need to adapt to the new Aprilia, so it will be a challenging weekend for sure. I have some quiet targets for this weekend, nothing special, I just want to enjoy the ride and adapt to the Aprilia."

Martin's title defence is effectively over, but his return will boost Aprilia's hopes for the remainder of the 2025 season. The Spaniard was signed to be the Italian manufacturer's new leader but has been stuck on the sidelines since.

In his absence, it was supposed to be Marco Bezzechi who led the manufacturer. However, MotoGP rookie Ai Ogura has stepped up and claimed multiple top-ten finishes for Aprilia.
