Marco Bezzecchi was the lone Aprilia Racing rider at the Sepang Test, and will also lead the manufacturer in Thailand this week.

The 2024 MotoGP World Champion was ruled out of the Sepang Test after two heavy crashes on the opening day.

It was later revealed that Martin had fractured his right hand and left foot during his second highside. The Spaniard completed 13 laps during the Sepang Test and will miss the Thailand Test this week.

This injury left Marco Bezzecchi on his own in the Aprilia Racing garage for the crucial preseason test. The Italian, who is also new to Aprilia, spoke ahead of the Thai Test about how Martin's absence impacts Aprilia as a whole.

"Well, not having Jorge for sure affects everyone in the team - also me. But this is what we have, so I have to do my job and don’t complain.

"We still have some items that we didn’t try in Sepang. It was on the plan.

"Fortunately in Sepang, we were able to follow the plan, so remain some items that we keep for here, especially tomorrow.

"Then we of course will have to prepare a bit the race weekend.

"So, will be important tomorrow as it’s the first day to try everything we need to try, and then focus on the setting, on the riding style."

Martin's crash also led to disputes between Aprilia and Michelin due to the unusual nature of the crash. The Italian manufacturer argued that there was no 'bike issue or rider issue' when Martin was thrown from his RS-GP.

However, Michelin later responded to the Italian manufacturer's theories aimed towards them. The French tyre manufacturer discovered that Martin's tyre temperature was 15 degrees less than Bezzecchi's at the time.
