Red Bull KTM Factory Racing has confirmed the signing of Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio for the 2027 MotoGP season.
Alex Marquez will join from Gresini Racing, where he’s raced for the last four seasons including this one, winning four grands prix and six Sprints in his time with the Italian team so far.
Marquez fills the space left by Pedro Acosta at KTM, the Murcian having been announced recently as a factory Ducati rider for the 2027 MotoGP season. Marquez’s team-mate is expected to be announced as Fabio Di Giannantonio, but KTM is yet to confirm the departure of Brad Binder.
“We are extremely proud and happy to have secured an exceptional talent like Alex Marquez – the 2025 World Championship runner-up – for our project,” said KTM motorsport director Pit Beirer.
“Alex brings not only outstanding skill and race intelligence but also determination and a winning mindset that perfectly matches our DNA.
“Together we share a clear objective: to take the KTM RC16 to the next level and fight at the very front of MotoGP.”
KTM’s gain is of course Gresini Racing’s loss, and as a rider who took the team to second in the standings last year, winning four grands prix in the last season-and-a-half.
The Italian squad announced its 2027 line-up last week, with Joan Mir and Dani Holgado joining, but team principal Nadia Padovani admitted it’s “hard” to see Marquez leave.
“Alex [Marquez], it’s truly hard to let you go,” Padovani said.
“We’ve shared emotions, growth, and moments that I will carry in my heart forever.
“I’m proud of the man and the rider you are.
“But before we say goodbye, there’s still one more chapter to write together. Let’s do it with the determination that has always set us apart.”
Di Giannantonio will join from VR46 Ducati, with which the Italian scored his second career grand prix victory at Catalunya earlier this year.
“Fabio [Di Giannnantonio] has clearly made a step to become one of the consistent front-running guys in MotoGP," said Pit Beirer.
"We cannot question his speed and commitment to delivering the best performance. He is a strong team player and a good guy, that we know will fit easily into our Red Bull KTM Factory Racing project.
"During our talks we were impressed by how passionate he is to give the maximum on track and off it, and we believe the next chapter together will be exciting and memorable. Welcome Fabio.”
