Brazilian rider Diogo Moreira set a new Moto2 Lap Record in the Friday afternoon Practice session at Phillip Island.
After his MotoGP move was announced earlier this week, Diogo Moreira started the Australian Grand Prix in a positive way as he set a new Moto2 Lap Record around Phillip Island on Friday afternoon.
Home hero Senna Agius was inside the top three on Friday afternoon as the Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP rider finished the opening day in second.
Moto2 rookie, David Alonso, had a solid start to his weekend at Phillip Island as the Colombian rider was in third place in the Friday afternoon Practice session.
British rider Jake Dixon was inside the top five in both Practice sessions on Friday. After topping Free Practice One, he ended the day in fourth place in the afternoon session.
The Moto2 World Championship leader, Manuel Gonzalez, was inside the top five at Phillip Island as he ended the day in fifth.
Mario Ajo had a positive start to his weekend as the IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia rider started off the Australian Grand Prix in sixth place.
Aron Canet could still win the Moto2 World Championship, but the Spaniard would need a solid weekend at Phillip Island, and ending Practice in seventh is not where he needs to be.
The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 rider, Tony Arbolino, was inside the top ten on Friday afternoon as he ended up in eighth place.
Darryn Binder was back inside the top ten as he ended the Practice session in ninth place on the ITALJET Gresini Moto2 machine.
Completing the top ten was the Moto2 rookie, Collin Veijer, on the Red Bull KTM Ajo machine.
