The Moto2 World Championship leader, Manuel Gonzalez, led the way with the Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP squad on Friday morning at Mugello.
British rider, Jake Dixon, was able to end Free Practice One in second place on the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team Boscoscuro machine.
Celestino Vietti was the second Boscoscuro rider inside the top five as he ended the session in third place for the Beta Tools SpeedRS Team.
After claiming his maiden Moto2 victory last time out at Aragon, Deniz Oncu was on the pace at Mugello as he started the weekend in fourth.
Completing the top five was Moto2 rookie David Alonso, despite struggling with a finger injury, the Colombian ended up in fifth in Free Practice One.
Barry Baltus started his weekend in sixth place on the Fantic Racing Lino Sonego Kalex machine.
Australian rider, Senna Agius, ended the first Moto2 session in seventh place on the Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP machine.
The third Boscoscuro rider inside the top ten was Filip Salac on the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team machine.
Daniel Holgado was able to put both CFMoto Aspar rookies inside the top ten as he finished the morning session in ninth.
Rounding out the top ten was Izan Guevara on the bLU cRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Boscoscuro machine.
