Moto2 Portugal, Free Practice One Results | Aron Canet set the pace on Friday morning

Aron Canet was back on form in the opening Free Practice session of the weekend at the Portuguese Grand Prix.

It was a tough few weekends in Australia and Malaysia for Aron Canet, but the Spaniard was back on form in Free Practice One at the Portuguese Grand Prix as he topped the timesheets.

British rider Jake Dixon took victory last time out at the Malaysian Grand Prix and will be targeting another podium finish this weekend after starting the weekend in second place.

Senna Agius was back inside the top ten after failing to finish the last race; the Australian rider was in third place in Free Practice One on Friday morning.

Celestino Vietti had a horrible time in the flyaway races as he scored a total of five points across the four races, but was in fourth place in the opening session at the Portuguese Grand Prix.

The Moto2 World Championship leader, Diogo Moreira, rounded out the top five in Free Practice One as he was in fifth place for the Italtrans Racing Team.

After announcing that he would leave the Grand Prix paddock at the end of the year on Thursday, Albert Arenas had a positive Friday morning as he started the weekend in sixth place.

Tony Arbolino's inconsistent season continued during the flyaway races, but now that he is back in Europe, he will be hopeful for a positive weekend in Portugal after ending Free Practice One in seventh.

Manuel Gonzalez lost the lead of the Moto2 World Championship after ending the Malaysian Grand Prix in 25th, and was behind Moreira in Free Practice One at Portimao.

Daniel Munoz continues to stand in for the recovering Deniz Oncu and started the penultimate round of the season in ninth place in the first practice session.

Completing the top ten was the Fantic Racing Lino Sonego rider, Barry Baltus, who was back on the podium last time out in Malaysia.
