Marc Marquez and the factory Ducati squad led the way in the opening session of the weekend, with Francesco Bagnaia in second.
In the opening session of the weekend, Marc Marquez started off in the perfect way as he topped the timesheets and led the way on his quest to win his first race at the Red Bull Ring.
Francesco Bagnaia has won at the Red Bull Ring for the last three years and was 0.310 seconds behind Marquez in Free Practice One as he finished in second.
Marco Bezzecchi prevented a Ducati top-four lockout as he put the Aprilia RS-GP into third place in the opening session.
The top satellite Ducati rider on Friday morning was the BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP rider Alex Marquez in fourth place.
Rounding out the top five was the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team rider Franco Morbidelli, who was 0.461 seconds behind Marc Marquez.
Just outside of the top five was the top Honda rider of Joan Mir, in sixth place on the Honda HRC Castrol machine.
Fabio Quartararo was the sole Yamaha rider to end the morning session inside the top ten as he put the Monster Energy Yamaha machine in seventh place.
The reigning MotoGP World Champion, Jorge Martin, was back inside the top ten as he ended up in eighth place on the Aprilia.
At their home Grand Prix, the top KTM rider was the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider of Pedro Acosta in ninth place.
Completing the top ten was the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider Enea Bastianini, after a Sprint Race podium last time out, the Italian is hopeful for this weekend.
