MotoGP Austria, Practice: Bagnaia sets a new all-time lap record, Ducati lock out the top four places in KTM's backyard

Gold and Goose

Francesco Bagnaia sets a new all-time lap record around the Red Bull Ring in a Ducati 1-2-3-4 in KTM's backyard.

After a Prima Pramac 1-2 in the morning Practice session, it was time to determine the 10 riders that would automatically get into Q2 tomorrow.

The first rider to get his name into Q2 is the new all-time lap record holder at the Red Bull Ring, Francesco Bagnaia. The Italian rider was inside the top three for the majority of the session, and his time attack was unmatched.

Behind Bagnaia was a fellow VR46 Academy rider, Franco Morbidelli. With a new contract in his back pocket for 2025 the Italian has been second in both MotoGP Practice sessions.

Jorge Martin finished in third place behind Bagnaia and Morbidelli. Martin was top of the session heading into the time attacks, but could not match Bagnaia's time.

Marc Marquez completed a Ducati 1-2-3-4 in Friday afternoon Practice. After a terrible morning Practice session Marquez made his way back into the top five when it mattered.

Brad Binder put in a last-lap effort to get into the top ten. The South African is the only KTM rider to get straight into Q2 tomorrow.

The fifth Ducati to automatically get into Q2 was Alex Marquez in sixth place.

Aprilia got both their factory riders inside the top ten in seventh and eighth places. Aleix Espargaro finished in seventh place and Maverick Vinales in eighth.

Marco Bezzecchi makes a return to form in the afternoon session as his best lap time puts him in ninth. Finally, rounding out the Q2 places was Enea Bastianini in tenth meaning seven of the eight Ducati riders made it into Q2.
