Fabio di Giannantonio walks away from the Sachsenring at the top of the timesheets at the end of the opening day.
On Friday afternoon, it was Fabio di Giannantonio who took top spot at the Sachsenring as he smashed the all-time lap record at the German circuit on the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team Ducati.
Despite his recent surgery, Alex Marquez still has an impressive one-lap pace as he ended the day in second place for the BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP squad.
Completing a Ducati 1-2-3 on Friday was Marc Marquez, the current MotoGP Championship leader did not set a final time attack and fell back from first to third.
Fabio Quartararo was the top non-Ducati rider as he guaranteed himself a spot in the second Qualifying session on Saturday, as he finished in fourth place.
Pedro Acosta was the top KTM rider on Friday afternoon as he finished in fifth place for the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team.
The fourth Ducati rider inside the top ten was Franco Morbidelli, who finished in sixth place for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team.
Marco Bezzecchi was the top Aprilia rider on Friday as the Italian rider was in seventh place with the Italian manufacturer.
The second Yamaha rider inside the top ten on Friday was Jack Miller, who was in eighth place on the Prima Pramac Racing M1.
Francesco Bagnaia was the fifth Ducati rider inside the top ten at the end of the opening day. The Italian rider was in ninth place and was 0.627 seconds behind di Giannantonio.
Completing the top ten was the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider of Brad Binder, the South African was in 11th in the morning and moved up to 10th in the afternoon.
