At the end of the opening session, it was Marco Bezzecchi and Pedro Acosta on identical lap times at the top of the timesheet.
Marco Bezzecchi set the pace in the opening session at his home Grand Prix as he took the Aprilia RS-GP to top spot in the latter moments of the session.
The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing riders ended the morning in second and third place. Pedro Acosta was in second with an identical lap time to Bezzecchi, and Brad Binder was in third place.
Marc Marquez was 0.094 seconds behind Bezzecchi and Acosta as the factory Ducati rider ended Free Practice One in fourth place.
The second Ducati rider inside the top ten was the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team rider of Fabio di Giannantonio in fifth place.
The top Yamaha rider on Friday morning was Fabio Quartararo who was in sixth place on the Monster Energy Yamaha machine.
Maverick Vinales was the third KTM rider inside the top ten on Friday morning as he finished in seventh on the Red Bull KTM Tech3 machine.
After a positive Aragon Test, an eighth place was not what Francesco Bagnaia expected in Free Practice One at Mugello.
Alex Marquez had a difficult morning session on the BK8 Gresini Racing Ducati GP24 as he ended the session in ninth place.
The top Honda rider completing the top ten was Johann Zarco on the LCR Honda Castrol machine.
