Francesco Bagnaia took victory in the Japanese Grand Prix, but the spotlight was on Marc Marquez, who secured the MotoGP title.
On the day when his teammate wrapped up the MotoGP title, Francesco Bagnaia claimed his second Grand Prix victory of the 2025 season. However, there were nerves in the Italian's garage as smoke billowed from his Ducati.
For the ninth time in his Grand Prix career, Marc Marquez claimed his ninth World Championship with a second-place finish in the Japanese Grand Prix. His hunt for his 100th Grand Prix victory continues after being beaten at Motegi.
Honda had to watch as their former rider clinched the title, but they had smiles of their own as Joan Mir secured his first MotoGP podium as a Honda HRC Castrol rider as he crossed the line in third place.
Marco Bezzecchi came back from being taken out by his teammate on Saturday and was able to finish in fourth place for the factory Aprilia Racing squad.
Rounding out the top five was the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team rider, Franco Morbidelli, who completed a solid weekend with two fifth-place finishes.
Alex Marquez will have to settle for second place in the 2025 MotoGP World Championship, as his sixth-place finish was not enough to take the title fight to Indonesia.
Raul Fernandez was back inside the top ten in a Grand Prix for the first time since the Austrian Grand Prix, as he finished in seventh place on the Trackhouse Racing Aprilia.
Fabio Quartararo claimed his second eighth-place finish in the last two weeks as the Monster Energy Yamaha rider was back inside the top ten for the fourth race in a row.
After failing to score points in the last three Grands Prix, Johann Zarco was back in the top ten as he finished in ninth place for the LCR Honda Castrol squad.
Completing the top ten was the MotoGP rookie and BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP rider, Fermin Aldeguer.
