MotoGP Malaysia, Practice Results | Pedro Acosta led the way on Friday afternoon at Sepang

Pedro Acosta topped the timesheets on Friday afternoon in the MotoGP Practice session at the Malaysian Grand Prix.

On the opening day of the Malaysian Grand Prix, it was the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider, Pedro Acosta, who topped the timesheets in the afternoon Practice session.

Johann Zarco was the top Honda rider in the final session of the day as he ended up in second place on the LCR Honda Castrol machine.

Jack Miller completed the top three as he put his Prima Pramac Racing machine into third place and secured himself a Q2 spot for Saturday.

The second Honda rider to secure a Q2 spot for Saturday was the Honda HRC Castrol rider and 2020 MotoGP World Champion, Joan Mir, as he ended the day in fourth place.

Rounding out the top five was the Monster Energy Yamaha rider, Fabio Quartararo. The Frenchman led the session at one stage, but was unable to end the day on top.

The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team riders missed out on the top five as Fabio di Giannantonio was in sixth place, and Franco Morbidelli was in seventh place.

Pol Espargaro continues to stand in for Maverick Vinales at the Red Bull KTM Tech3 squad, and secured himself a Q2 spot with an eighth-place finish in the afternoon Practice session.

Alex Marquez made his way into the top ten with his final run of the day, and the BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP rider was in ninth place.

Completing the top ten was the Monster Energy Yamaha rider, Alex Rins, who was the third Yamaha rider to ensure himself a spot in Q2.
