Marc Marquez is back on top of the podium in the opening race of the season for the first time since 2014.
The 2025 MotoGP World Championship is underway and the results are ominous for the rest of the field.
Marc Marquez took no prisoners in the opening race of the season and dominated the Thai Sprint Race. The Spaniard won by 1.185 seconds and the last time he won the opening race of the year was in 2014.
BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP rider, Alex Marquez, was in second place in the Thai Sprint Race. The younger Marquez brother rounded out a sensational Marquez 1-2 at the Chang International Circuit.
Two-time MotoGP World Champion, Francesco Bagnaia, took a podium in the opening race of the season. Bagnaia was in third place, but was 3.423 seconds behind his new teammate.
MotoGP Rookie, Ai Ogura, had an extremely impressive rookie race in the premier class on the Trackhouse Racing Aprilia. The Japanese rider ended the Sprint Race in fourth and was giving Bagnaia a run for his money.
After making the headlines for the wrong reasons on Friday, Franco Morbidelli finished the Sprint Race in fifth place for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team.
The top KTM at the chequered flag was Pedro Acosta on the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing machine. The Spaniard was 11.700 seconds behind Marquez and just under six seconds behind Morbidelli.
Fabio Quartararo and the Monster Energy Yamaha Team were back in the top ten as the Frenchman finished in seventh.
Brad Binder ended the day in eighth place as he crossed the line 14 seconds behind the race winner on his KTM RC16.
Honda has made a step for the 2025 MotoGP season, Joan Mir has secured a point on the Honda HRC Castrol machine.
