Pedro Acosta urges KTM to 'be calm' ahead of the 2025 MotoGP season

Gold & Goose

The star of the show for KTM has once again been Pedro Acosta who leads the way for the Austrian manufacturer at the end of testing.

As per usual the MotoGP pre-season has been an up-and-down period for KTM. The Austrian manufacturer has been dealing with off-track drama and inconsistent days of testing in Sepang and Buriram.

However, very much like in 2024, their glimmer of hope comes from Pedro Acosta. The 20-year-old has made a seamless transition into the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team and looks to spearhead KTM's title challenge in 2025.

On the final day of testing in Buriram Acosta was the top KTM rider as he ended the day in fourth. His best lap time was 1:29.133, which was 0.278 seconds behind Marc Marquez's best lap of the day.

“We need to be happy,” Acosta said after the Buriram test.

“Again, we tried many things and we are getting the pace quite fast.

“It’s been a good pre-season for me and also for KTM because all four riders are thinking the same way, and the bike has already improved from last year.

“We are faster and it is easier for me to go faster. We need to be calm and then see how we can start the season here.”

The other three KTM riders have not had as easy a pre-season as Acosta has had. The two Red Bull KTM Tech3 riders Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini have both struggled.

The Spaniard and the Italian are struggling to adapt to the KTM RC16 after spending the last few years with Aprilia and Ducati.
