Honda Racing Corporation has announced that Romano Albesiano will be their Technical Director in 2025.
Honda Racing Corporation will have a new Technical Director in 2025 as they set their sights on returning to the top in MotoGP.
The Japanese manufacturer announced that they signed Romano Albesiano for the 2025 season. Honda made this announcement public during their home Grand Prix in Japan in the middle of MotoGP Practice.
After 11 years with Aprilia Racing Albesiano will switch from the Italian manufacturer to the Japanese manufacturer.
When HRC announced their new Technical Director they released a statement alongside it that reads:
"Honda Racing Corporation are pleased to announce the signing of Romano Albesiano as Technical Director.
"From the start of 2025, Albesiano will oversee HRC’s MotoGP project and the continued development of the Honda RC213V machine as Technical Director. The Italian joins HRC with three decades of motorcycle and racing development experience, having most recently spent 11 years as part of Aprilia’s MotoGP project."
In 2025 Albesiano will replace Ken Kawauchi, who joined in 2022 after Suzuki left the MotoGP paddock.
Albesiano will also follow Aleix Espargaro across from Aprilia to Honda. The Spaniard signed on to become HRC's Test Rider in 2025 earlier this season.
