Despite speculation, Somkiat Chantra does not know if he will be a MotoGP rider next season.
Somkiat Chantra has been heavily linked with a MotoGP ride for the LCR Honda IDEMITSU squad for 2025.
However, the Thai rider has told MotoGP.com that he does not know whether he will be in MotoGP or Moto2 next season. If Chantra does get the LCR Honda IDEMITSU ride he will replace Takaaki Nakagami in the team.
As it stands Chantra is 10th in the Moto2 standings with a best result of fifth place in the 2024 season.
"I have seen it on social media, and many people have been asking me if I will go to LCR Honda next year," Chantra said.
"I still do not know yet. For now, I will keep all my focus on Moto2 and let's see if in the future I can go to LCR or if I will stay in Moto2. If I can become a MotoGP rider I will be really happy, it is my dream but let's see."
After staying tight-lipped Chantra was asked if his manager Hiroshi Aoyama had told him anything about his future.
Staying tight-lipped once again Chantra concluded by saying: "Aoyama said to me 'Do your best in Moto2 now and let's see on the future'."
