'The most important day is tomorrow' - Marquez looks ahead to Sunday after winning the Aragon Sprint Race

Gold and Goose

The Marc Marquez of old returned at Aragon during the Sprint Race as he dominated the 11-lap Sprint.

Throughout the whole weekend, Marc Marquez had been the rider to beat. The tricky track conditions meant that Marquez had been in his element in every session.

Before the Sprint Race Marquez had topped every Practice session and secured pole position on Saturday morning. For the first time in 2024, Marquez was looking like the Marquez of old from 2019.

From the moment the Sprint Race began, Marquez was untouchable. The eight-time World Champion led from turn one until the chequered flag.

After crossing the line with a three-second lead Marquez spoke about his performance in the Sprint Race.

"I feel super good, it was a very good weekend until now," Marquez told Simon Crafar. "But the race is always the race you cannot make any mistakes. I started a little bit stiff on the first lap, but then we started to ride in a better way and we controlled it."

However, Marquez quickly switched his attention to the main goal, a Grand Prix victory on Sunday.

"But of course the most important day is tomorrow," Marquez stated. "Today we will celebrate because it is a Sprint Race, it is really important for us it is our first victory in a Sprint Race. I am looking forward to tomorrow in front of these amazing people!"

Marquez's last race win came at Misano in 2020 when he was still on a Repsol Honda. After waiting over 1000 days Marquez could win a Grand Prix race once again on Sunday at his home circuit of MotorLand Aragon.
