Toprak Razgatlioglu has missed the last six World Superbike (WorldSBK) races. However, the Championship leader is back in action and back on top of the timesheets.
After missing every race at Magny-Cours and Cremona Toprak Razgatlioglu is back. The Turkish rider has seen his Championship lead cut down to 13 points. However, Razgatlioglu ended up topping his first session back since suffering injuries at Magny-Cours.
BMW ended up finishing Free Practice One in first and second with Garrett Gerloff in second place. The American rider has been picking up consistent top-ten results in recent weeks and looked great in the opening session.
After an impressive showing at Cremona Honda are once again at the sharp end at Aragon. Both the Team HRC riders found themselves in the top five in Free Practice One. Xavi Vierge and Iker Lecuona finished in third and fourth places.
Completing the top five was the fastest Ducati rider on Friday morning, Alvaro Bautista. The Spaniard picked up solid results at Cremona after missing two races at Magny-Cours. However, he is still 82 points behind Razgatlioglu.
Behind Bautista, there were three more Ducati riders, in sixth place was Andrea Iannone, who is now back at a circuit he is more familiar with. Danilo Petrucci was in seventh after completing the treble at Cremona and Michael Ruben Rinaldi was in eighth place.
The top Kawasaki rider on Friday morning was Axel Bassani as he finished the opening session in ninth. Completing the top ten was the hard-charging Nicolo Bulega, who is 13 points behind Razgatlioglu in the standings.
No British riders ended Friday morning inside the top ten with the top British rider, Sam Lowes, ending up in 12th place. Alex Lowes was in 13th with Scott Redding in 15th, Bradley Ray in 16th, Jonathan Rea in 17th and Tarran Mackenzie in 21st.
