Garrett Gerloff ends the opening day at MotorLand Aragon on top of the WorldSBK timesheets.
BMW take top spot at the end of Day One as Garrett Gerloff snatches first in the dying seconds of the session. The Bonovo BMW rider finished in second place this morning and moved up one spot in the afternoon.
After the lone BMW at the top of the timesheets the Ducati's then locked out second place down to seventh. The Aruba.it Racing - Ducati squad ended the day in second and third with Nicolo Bulega leading his teammate Alvaro Bautista.
Fourth place was the treble-winning from Cremona, Danilo Petrucci. The Italian rider has carried his form from his home round back to Spain for Aragon.
Completing the top five was Andrea Iannone on the Team GoEleven Ducati machine. The Italian rider is back at a circuit he knows and is expecting a good result.
Outside the top five was Sam Lowes in sixth on the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team Ducati. The British rider has had success at MotorLand Aragon in the past as he won multiple times in Moto2 at the venue.
After the five Ducati's the next manufacturer in the top ten was once again a BMW. However, it was not the BMW many expected as it was Michael van der Mark who ended the day in seventh.
The top Honda rider on Friday afternoon was the Team HRC rider, Iker Lecuona. The Spaniard ended the day in eighth and was in the top ten in both Practice sessions throughout the day.
In ninth place was Toprak Razgatlioglu on his ROKiT BMW Motorrad machine. The Turkish rider returned to racing after suffering injuries at Magny-Cours and after topping the opening session a ninth place could be a surprise to many fans.
Rounding out the top ten on Friday afternoon was Remy Gardner in tenth place. Yamaha has not historically done well at MotorLand Aragon and their back fortunes at the circuit have continued in 2024.
There were five British riders outside the top ten this afternoon. Alex Lowes was in 11th, Jonathan Rea was in 13th, Bradley Ray was in 14th, Scott Redding was in 18th, and Tarran Mackenzie was in 21st.
