Toprak Razgatlioglu leads the way at Magny-Cours as BMW complete a 1-2-3 in Free Practice One.
After a month's break, the World Superbike Championship is back in action at Magny-Cours. Last time out at Portimao the weekend was dominated by Toprak Razgatlioglu, and it looks like it will be again in France.
Razgatlioglu once again leads the way in the opening World Superbike Practice session. The Turkish rider had a half-a-second lead over the field.
Completing the top three were two other BMW riders. Garrett Gerloff finished in second place on the Bonovo Action BMW. Then in third was Michael van der Mark in third place on the other factory ROKiT BMW machine.
The Aruba.it Racing - Ducati riders finished in fourth and fifth place. Nicolo Bulega finished in fourth place. Then the newly re-signed Alvaro Bautista finished in fifth place.
The top Kawasaki rider in the opening Free Practice session was Alex Lowes. The British rider is 10 points off of the top three in the Championship and wants to close that gap this weekend.
The top Yamaha was Jonathan Rea in seventh place. Not only is Rea the top Yamaha he is also the only Yamaha rider inside the top ten in Free Practice One.
Danilo Petrucci had one of his best WorldSBK weekends last time out at Portimao. The Italian rider ended Free Practice One in eighth place on his Barni Spark Racing Team.
The fourth and final BMW rider Scott Redding was also inside the top ten. The British rider has no ride for 2025 but ended Free Practice One in ninth.
Rounding out the top ten was the struggling Michael Ruben Rinaldi. The Italian looks to be on his way out of Ducati at the end of 2024 and needs a good weekend to secure a contract for 2025.
There were three British riders outside the top ten as Bradley Ray ended the session in 18th. Then the returning Sam Lowes and Tarran Mackenzie ended FP1 in 19th and 21st places.
