Niki Tuuli claims his first World Supersport win of 2024 and his first since Indonesia in 2022.
The opening World Supersport Race at Magny-Cours did not take place on Saturday due to the track conditions. However, on Sunday morning after the World Superbike Warm-Up, the Supersport riders had their first race.
For the first time since Indonesia in 2022 Niki Tuuli is a World Supersport race winner once again. The Finnish rider was the first across the finish line on his Ducati to claim victory in mixed conditions.
Federico Caricasulo put his MV Agusta on the podium as he ended up crossing the line in second place. The Italian had been battling with two other riders but had the pace to drop them slightly in the latter laps.
Dutch rider, Glenn van Straalen, is back on the podium for the first time since Assen. The Ten Kate rider made it three different manufacturers in the top three of the opening Supersport race.
The Championship leader, Adrian Huertas, ended up finishing in fourth place after becoming the victim of a tough move. The Spaniard was fighting for second, but could not manage to get on the podium in the end.
Can Oncu gets his best result of the 2024 World Supersport season. The Puccetti Kawasaki rider ended up finishing in fifth place, beating his previous best of seventh.
Yari Montella was in the podium battle. However, the Italian rider put in a harsh move on Huertas and was given a long lap penalty that dropped him to sixth.
Australian rider Tom Edwards has had his best result of the season since Assen as he finished in seventh place.
Jorge Navarro took his Orelac Racing Verdnatura Ducati to an eighth-place finish in Race One.
The top Triumph in the opening race was Tom Booth-Amos who finished in ninth-place.
Rounding out the top ten was the home hero, Valentin Debise.
