Toprak Razgatlioglu wins again in World Superbikes, the BMW rider claims his 14th win of the season.
On Saturday Toprak Razgatlioglu won the opening race of the weekend at Portimao. With two races to go could Razgatlioglu take two more wins to win 13 WorldSBK races in a row?
After equaling the record of 11 consecutive World Superbike wins Razgatlioglu has broken the record. The Turkish rider was hired by BMW to take the bike to the next level. However, the Turkish rider has taken it to the top level as he takes his 12th WorldSBK win in a row.
Danilo Petrucci has gone one better in the Superpole Race. Yesterday the Italian finished in third place, but today has managed a second-place finish.
British rider, Alex Lowes returns to the podium once again. Lowes secured his eighth podium of the season and did well in a battle with Petrucci and Michael van der Mark throughout the Superpole Race.
His team-mate may have won again but van der Mark took another fourth-place finish. In the latter stages of the race yesterday van der Mark dropped back in the order but the 10-lap Sprint allowed the Dutchman to fight for a podium.
Despite missing all of Free Practice One the WorldSBK rookie, Nicolo Bulega secured a solid fifth-place finish in the Superpole race. Alvaro Bautista finished just behind his young team-mate as the two-time Champion finished in sixth.
Honda returns to the top ten with Xavi Vierge. The Spaniard and Honda have had a tough 2024 season. However, Team HRC has looked strong this weekend and will be hunting for another top-ten finish in Race Two.
The top Yamaha rider in the Superpole Race was Dominique Aegerter. The Swiss rider has been underperforming in 2024 but has done well at Portimao.
Rounding out the points in the Superpole Race is Andrea Iannone. The Italian has struggled this weekend at a relatively new track for him on the Ducati Panigale V4 R.
The other British riders involved in the race all finished outside of the points. Jonathan Rea just missed out on points as he finished in tenth place. Scott Redding and Bradley Ray both finished outside of the top 15 as they finished in 17th and 18th places.
