Nicolo Bulega topped the timesheets in the first World Superbike Free Practice session of the weekend at Jerez.

It was all Nicolo Bulega on Friday morning as he set the pace in Free Practice One at the Circuito do Jerez in the opening session of the season finale, in which the Italian could win the title.

In second place was the Championship leader and the reigning World Superbike Champion, Toprak Razgatlioglu. The Turkish rider could not match his Italian rival in Free Practice One, but kept him honest.

A surprise name inside the top three at the end of the session was the Honda HRC rider, Xavi Vierge. The Spaniard was 0.422 seconds behind Bulega, but was the best of the rest.

Andrea Iannone has still not got a deal sorted for 2026, but had a promising start to his weekend as he was in fourth place in Free Practice One on the Team Pata GoEleven Ducati.

Rounding out the top five was the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team rider, Sam Lowes. After missing the Estoril Round last weekend, the British rider is back with a point to prove this weekend.

It was Alex Lowes who was just outside of the top five in sixth place for the bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team, but he was 0.618 seconds behind Bulega and Ducati.

Yari Montella was the fourth Ducati rider inside the top ten on Friday morning as he took his Barni Spark Racing Team machine to seventh place on the timesheets.

The top Yamaha was the six-time World Superbike Champion, Jonathan Rea. After a shaky start to the session, the British rider made his way up to eighth place in the latter moments.

Two-time World Superbike Champion, Alvaro Bautista, was the fifth Ducati rider in the top ten as he ended the morning in ninth place for the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati squad.

Completing the top ten was the second Pata Maxus Yamaha rider, Andrea Locatelli. However, the Italian was 1.148 seconds behind Bulega at the top of the timesheets.
