Danny Buchan will play no further part in this weekend’s eighth round of the 2023 British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park after being hospitalised by an accident during FP1.
The SYNETIQ TAS Racing rider crashed at The Mountain during the closing stages of Saturday’s opening practice session having already shown a competitive turn of pace on the BMW M 1000 RR to be placed as high as sixth at the flag.
Though initially declared as OK, Buchan was initially taken to the medical centre hospital before heading on to Hull Royal Infirmary for precautionary checks.

It means he or the TAS Racing team will be in BSB action for the remainder of the weekend at a circuit where Buchan was twice a race winner last year.
It has been a bruising campaign for Buchan in 2023, the Essex rider suffering injuries in a huge high-side at the Silverstone opener, which ruled him out of the following Oulton Park round, before skipping much of the Snetterton event because of a crash in Race 2.
He is currently placed 20th in the overall standings with a best finish of tenth after seven events.
