MotoGP Austria, Sprint Race: Bagnaia wins at the Red Bull Ring, Martin finishes second, Marquez crashes

Gold and Goose

Before the main Grand Prix tomorrow, the riders get a dress rehearsal in a 10-lap Saturday Sprint Race.

Jorge Martin started from pole position ahead of fellow Ducati riders, Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez.

Bagnaia withstood pressure from both Martin and Marquez to ride to a beautiful victory at the Red Bull Ring. Ducati has taken first blood in KTMs backyard with a Sprint Race victory.

Despite a Long Lap Penalty Martin still finished in second place. The Spaniard made a mistake heading into the Turn Two chicane and took the shortcut, but did not lose enough time, resulting in his LLP.

It did not seem like Aprilia had any Race Pace this weekend. However, Aleix Espargaro took an unexpected third-place finish on Saturday afternoon.

Enea Bastianini had pace in the race but his one-lap pace lacked once again. This is what has held Bastianini back from good results in the past.

After a terrible start, Jack Miller managed to hold onto his fifth place during the Sprint and crossed the line where he started.

After signing a deal with the VR46 Racing Team for 2025 this weekend Franco Morbidelli took sixth place in the Sprint Race.

The second KTM in the points was Brad Binder. The South African has floated around seventh place all weekend, which is where he finished in the Sprint Race.

Marco Bezzecchi has had a strong weekend in Austria so far and took eighth place in the Sprint.

Rounding out the points positions on Saturday was the KTM Factory Racing Test Rider, Pol Espargaro. The Spanish rider has done a good job during his wildcard appearance this weekend.
