Ryan Vickers utilising Honda WorldSBK experience in BSB

Ryan Vickers says he is trying to utilise the experience he gained with Honda in WorldSBK to help improve his BSB bike for this year.

Vickers’ full WorldSBK season in 2025 was, of course, spent aboard a Ducati for the Motocorsa team, but shortly after the conclusion of last season he was back on-track with Honda at the Jerez WorldSBK test in November.

Vickers also raced for the factory Honda team as a wildcard at the Australian Round in February, and his time with the WorldSBK Honda, he thinks, has given him an understand of where to direct the development of the BSB bike he will ride this season.

“You’ve got a lot more of an advanced bike in World Superbike with electronics and exhaust valves and all sorts of stuff like that, so the bike performs a lot higher,” Vickers told Crash.net after the Donington test on 3–4 April.

“So, when you come back on a BSB bike that has less, you actually understand a little bit where you can make the bike better, or at least try to make it, in that area, as close to the World Superbike as you can.”

Vickers ended the test fourth on the combined times across the two days, behind Bimota’s Max Cook and the TAS Racing Yamahas of Danny Kent and Rory Skinner.

It was a result Vickers was content with, especially having felt he’d made some decent progress with the bike on day two.

“Pretty solid,” Vickers told Crash.net.

“[Friday] was a tough day. We had four days in Spain that was great, really got a good setup with the bike. We came here, it was a little bit different yesterday, also track conditions: very cold, windy – very different to Spain.

“Honestly, we made big steps [on Saturday], learnt a lot with the bike, did quite a lot of exits with a lot of different things and trying different things, and understanding what works and doesn’t work with the bike.

“We’ve still got more to go, there’s a lot more to come out of me and the bike. We now the direction now, which is good, so a very positive test.”

BSB’s preseason continues on 22–23 April at Oulton Park, just over a week before round one at the same circuit on 3–5 May.
