Jason O’Halloran was left “disappointed” with the Oulton Park BSB despite feeling like he’d made progress over the weekend.
The Australian has generally struggled this year, his first back in BSB after a year away in the Endurance World Championship, but at Oulton Park last weekend he was able to qualify directly to Q2 and showed top-10 speed throughout the weekend.
But his final race came to nothing as he retired with a bike problem while running in the top-10.
“I’m disappointed I wasn’t able to deliver a result for me and the team in the last race, but I’m happy we made progress this weekend,” O’Halloran said.
“Pre-qualifying for Q2 was a good indication that we were going to have a better weekend and the two top ten results felt like exactly that.
“The team are working constantly to give me the best bike possible and we’ll all keep pushing at Thruxton for more progress and points.”
Vickers hails “great weekend of racing”
If O’Halloran was disappointed by a lack of results, Ryan Vickers was much more positive, finishing in the top-six in all three races, including two fourths on Sunday.
“That was a great weekend of racing,” Vickers concluded. “My first race result wasn’t easy to deliver: I got a good start and was where I needed to be in terms of position, but lost a little bit of tyre performance each lap and ended up having to just hold out for the flag.
“Race 2 felt a lot better for me. I was in podium contention until the tyre dropped away; fortunately I was able to hang on to fourth over the line.
“It felt good to see P3 on my board for more than just a lap, we’re pushing so hard to deliver these results, it’s a positive to feel the progress coming almost lap by lap.
“The final race was great fun. I raced hard to hold sixth and felt like that might have been the best we would achieve until I noticed the riders in front struggling a little.
“I dug in as deep as I could and gave it absolutely everything, caught them and passed them both in one lap.
“I had to deliver the best three laps of my life to hold that fourth position. The result means a lot to me and to the team. We’re coming.”
