Kyle Ryde claims pole position at his home circuit as he chases the lead of the British Superbike (BSB) Championship.
At Donington Park, local boy Kyle Ryde has dominated the weekend. The OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing rider ended Friday as the fastest rider and topped Free Practice Three before Qualifying. The Championship challenger set pole position for the penultimate BSB round of the season.
It will be a Yamaha 1-2 on the grid for the opening race as Danny Kent qualified in second. The McAMS Racing Yamaha rider is still chasing his first-ever British Superbike win, something he could claim on Saturday afternoon.
At the end of the front row is Josh Brookes on the FHO Racing BMW. The Australian rider has seen a resurgence in form over the last few rounds and is well and truly back at the sharp end.
Honda locked out fourth and fifth places on the grid with the MasterMac and Honda Racing UK machines. Charlie Nesbitt will start from fourth on the MasterMac Honda with Tommy Bridewell in fifth on the Honda Racing UK machine.
Glenn Irwin will have a clear view of his Championship rival, Bridewell, as he starts alongside the Honda. The Hager PBM Ducati rider needs strong results before Brands Hatch if he wants to keep with Ryde and catch Bridewell.
Starting from seventh place is Leon Haslam on the ROKiT Haslam Racing BMW Motorrad. The veteran BSB rider has done more laps around Donington Park than anyone else on the grid and could pull out a result this weekend.
Honda occupies eighth and ninth places on the third row of the grid. Lee Jackson will start from eighth on the MasterMac Honda with Andrew Irwin in ninth on the Honda Racing UK machine.
Completing the top ten is Christian Iddon in tenth place on the Oxford Products Racing Ducati.
