BSB Oulton Park, Race One Results | Ryde takes control at Oulton Park, Bridewell crashes out

Kyle Ryde takes control of the British Superbike (BSB) Championship at Oulton Park with a crucial race win.

On the grid before the race, it was Kyle Ryde on pole ahead of Josh Brookes and Tommy Bridewell. The remaining Championship challengers of Glenn Irwin, Ryan Vickers and Christian Iddon started from fourth, seventh and tenth.

After starting from pole and dropping back to third Kyle Ryde put together a perfect end to the 18-lap race. The OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing rider made his way passed the two riders ahead of him to retake the lead. #77 then broke the pack as he claimed victory and the Championship lead at Oulton Park.

In second place was Glenn Irwin as he capitalised on fellow title contenders making mistakes. The Hager PBM Ducati rider led the way for the majority of the race but still looked overjoyed with a second place.

Lee Jackson got back on the podium once again on the MasterMac Honda. After a positive weekend at Cadwell Park Jackson finished in third place at Oulton Park.

After leading the race in the early stages Josh Brookes ended up losing out on a podium place. The Australian rider was leading the race and dropped back to second behind Irwin and was desperate to get passed. However, Brookes got impatient and tried to pass Irwin but dropped back to fourth.

Completing the top five was Ryan Vickers as he finished in fifth place on the OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing. The Championship contender has struggled at Oulton Park on his Yamaha R1 but with other contenders crashing a fifth place is solid points for Vickers.

Further back from the front group Leon Haslam ended up finishing in sixth place on his BMW. Danny Kent was down in seventh place and Peter Hickman got his best result of the season in eighth.

The Completely Motorbikes Kawasaki riders rounded out the top ten as Jason O'Halloran and Max Cook finished in ninth and tenth.

Disaster struck for Bridewell in the opening lap of the race as he crashed out of the race. At the Hislop chicane, the Championship leader hit the deck and walked away from Saturday with zero points.

Championship challenger Christian Iddon also crashed out of the race. This crash could be the end of Iddon's 2024 title challenge.
