Glenn Irwin had 'one of the best rides of his career' at Oulton Park as he won in wet conditions.

Glenn Irwin leaves Oulton Park as the highest-scoring rider at Round Nine of the British Superbike Championship. The Hager PBM Ducati rider returned to the rostrum for the first time this weekend since he did the double at Snetterton.

The Northern Irishman entered the weekend 60 points behind Championship leader Tommy Bridewell. However, he is leaving Oulton Park only 45 points behind the Championship leader.

Throughout the weekend Irwin finished second, first and ninth place across the three races.

After the weekend Irwin said: “A brilliant weekend to take a second place in the dry and then a win in the wet which I reckon was one of the best rides of my career. I thought we could go on and repeat that in race three but the track conditions changed and made it difficult. But we scored the most points out of everyone over the weekend and to take our seventh victory of the season means we are right back in the title race."

With two rounds and six races left of the 2024 season, Irwin is back in the Championship challenge. This is something that the #2 wants to maintain for the final races at Donington Park and Brands Hatch.

"The plan is to maintain the championship challenge and to keep exerting pressure on my title rivals. It was also very fitting to get the victory which I dedicated to Paul Bird, who we paid tribute to at Oulton Park this time last year, so that was very special.”
