British MotoE Silverstone - RACE 1 | Wet 'n' wild maiden win for Krummenacher

Randy Krummenacher collected his maiden MotoE World Championship victory after conquering treacherous conditions at Silverstone to win the opening race of the weekend.

The 2019 WorldSSP Champion - in his first season of MotoE after replacing Dominique Aegerter in the IntactGP team - survived a spirited challenge from wet weather specialist Kevin Manfredi to take the line for victory.

Starting from sixth on the grid, Krummenacher picked his way into the lead for the first time on lap two of five via a bold outside sweep into Stowe. His pass coincided with team-mate Hector Garzo also passing pole sitter and early leader Eric Granado, the IntactGP duo's pincer movement lifting them into a 1-2.

Garzo took the fight to Krummenacher on lap three with a neat pass into Vale, the Swiss rider briefly demoted to third when a charging Manfredi shuffled through into Club.

However, when Krummenacher scythed from third to first with an inspired overtake into Village, he'd hold firm for the remainder of the lap to the take the flag for his first MotoE victory.

He still had to work hard for it though with Manfredi pushing Krummenacher all the way to collect his second wet weather podium of the year in second place, while Granado recovered from his mid-race lull to get the better of Garzo into Vale at the final time of asking.

In the context of the MotoE title fight, Jordi Torres extended his series to after coming home a safe fifth, comfortably ahead of Matteo Ferrari, who could only manage eighth after losing time with a long lap penalty.

Between them, Mattia Casadei and Miquel Pons crossed the line in sixth and seventh positions, while Mika Perez and Andrea Mantovani completed the top ten.

Elsewhere, Nicholas Spinelli threw away a potential podium when he slipped off at Brooklands moments after moving into third place.
