Jake Dixon will start on pole position for Round 11 of the 2023 Moto2 World Championship after maintaining his strong practice form through to qualifying at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

A first pole position of the season for the GasGas Aspar rider, Dixon - who was quickest in this morning’s preceding Practice 3 session - hit the front in the closing stages with a 1m 44.089secs effort.

It was enough to deny the Pons Racing machine of Aron Canet, who slots into second after finishing just under a tenth off from pole position, while Ai Ogura completes the front row in third position.

Manuel Gonzalez turned in his best qualifying performance of the season to secure fourth on the grid, while Albert Arenas out-qualified Moto2 championship leading Pedro Acosta this year for the first time this year to complete the top five.

Indeed, Acosta starts off the front two rows for the first time this year after losing out when a fast lap was cancelled.

Nevertheless, he has a good opportunity to extend his advantage in the overall standings after his closest rival Tony Arbolino could only manage 20th on the grid, leaving him with work to do from the seventh row.

Meanwhile, Sam Lowes will start from 11th on the Marc VDS Racing machine, with Rory Skinner in 25th.
