Indonesian Moto2, Practice | Acosta bounces back from crash to top Friday timesheets

Championship leader Pedro Acosta brushed off a spill in P1 to end the first day of track action for the Indonesian Moto2 at the Mandalika Circuit atop the timesheets.

The Spaniard was one of many riders to hit the deck over the course of the day in all three classes as he got to grips with the slippery Lombok circuit.

However, despite missing much of the morning session, Acosta bounced straight back to quickly set a new lap record benchmark early on in P2 before lowering it again with a 1m 34.456secs effort on the Red Bull KTM Ajo Kalex.

He was joined in the upper quadrant of the timesheets by most of this year’s Moto2 front runners with Aron Canet two tenths adrift in second place, followed up by Sam Lowes on the best of the Marc VDS machines.

P1 pace setter Manuel Gonzalez improved on his time but could manage no higher than fourth come the flag, ahead of Ai Ogura and Jake Dixon in fifth and sixth.

There was less joy for Acosta’s main Moto2 title rival, the Italian again enduring a quiet start to the weekend in ninth, behind Fermin Alderguer and Albert Arenas, with Sergio Garcia completing the top ten.

On his first visit to the Mandalika Circuit, Rory Skinner endured a tough initiation, down in 29th out of the 30 riders
