Ivan Ortola ends Friday as the fastest Moto3 rider around Motegi as he smashes the lap record.
After the opening day of Practice at the Japanese Grand Prix it is Ivan Ortola on top of the pile. The Spanish rider smashed Jaume Masia's lap record at Motegi to claim first place on Friday. The MT Helmets - MSi rider needs to beat the Championship leader if he wants to take the title fight to Australia.
Leopard Racing rider, Angel Piqueras, has continued his run of form in the late stages of this season. The Spanish rider ended the opening day at Motegi in second place as the top Honda rider in Moto3.
Championship leader, David Alonso, could win the 2024 Moto3 World Championship this weekend. However, having Ortola ahead of him is not what the Colombian needs. Alonso ends Friday in third place on the time sheets.
The Japanese fans have two names to watch over this weekend in Moto2 as Ryusei Yamanaka and Tatsuki Suzuki ended the day in fourth and fifth places.
Ahead of his home round in two weeks, Joel Kelso ends the opening day at Motegi in sixth place. Kelso is still on the hunt for his first podium of the 2024 season, something he could achieve this weekend.
Spanish riders David Almansa and Adrian Fernandez were the second and third Honda riders on Friday. Almansa ended the day in seventh place with Fernandez in eighth place.
Collin Veijer had a slower start to his weekend than his Moto3 Championship rivals. The Dutch rider finished in ninth place on the time sheets.
Completing the top ten was Matteo Bertelle in tenth place on the Kopron Rivacold Snipers Team Honda.
The only British rider on the grid this weekend is Scott Ogden as Eddie O'Shea continues his recovery. Ogden ended Friday in 19th place on the FleetSafe AI - MLav Racing machine.
