MotoGP Japan, Race Results: Bagnaia does the double at Motegi, Acosta crashes from pole

Gold and Goose

'Brilliant Bagnaia' returned in Japan as he did the double in the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi.

Francesco Bagnaia claims his eighth Grand Prix victory of the 2024 MotoGP season. The Italian rider was perfect throughout the 24-lap race around Motegi. Bagnaia had clawed back more crucial points in the 2024 World Championship.

The World Championship leader, Jorge Martin, finished second place in the Japanese Grand Prix. The Spanish rider could not match Bagnaia's pace throughout either races this weekend as he settled for a singular trip to the podium.

In third place was Marc Marquez as he claimed his first podium in the Japanese Grand Prix without Honda. The Spaniard was battling for third place but ended up claiming the final spot on the Japanese Grand Prix podium.

Just off the podium was Enea Bastianini in fourth place on his factory Ducati. The Italian rider had his signature late-race pace, but could not match Marquez ahead of him.

Completing a Ducati top-five lockout was Franco Morbidelli in fifth place on the Prima Pramac Ducati. The Italian rider fought hard for a top-five finish and secured another strong result in 2024.

The top non-Ducati was a KTM once again with Brad Binder in sixth place. The South African rider was in a battle for fifth place but could not stay with the Ducati's ahead of him.

In seventh and eighth were both of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team riders. Marco Bezzecchi crossed the line in seventh with Fabio di Giannantonio in eighth.

The top Aprilia rider in the Japanese Grand Prix was Aleix Espargaro in ninth place. The Spaniard was 30 seconds behind Bagnaia at the end of the race.

Completing the top ten was Jack Miller on the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing machine. The Australian rider had a difficult time in Japan but claimed top-ten finishes in both races. In two weeks, Miller returns home for the Australian Grand Prix.
