'We are focused on developing the bike, not on performance' - Lorenzo Savadori takes over Jorge Martin's testing duties

Lorenzo Savadori details his testing duties after replacing the injured Jorge Martin at the Sepang Test.

After a three-day Sepang Shakedown Test, Lorenzo Savadori was looking forward to some help with developing the RS-GP.

However, after Jorge Martin fractured his left hand and right foot he was declared unfit. The Spaniard will miss the remainder of the Sepang Test and may not ride until Free Practice One in Thailand.

Now the majority of the testing duties have fallen back to Aprilia Test Rider, Savadori.

"We don’t have my test bike, we have the official riders’ bike," Savadori told the media on Thursday.

"We tried different aerodynamics and a different electronic system. We are focused on developing the bike, not on performance. We need to understand some solutions better.

"Some parts, we have used for the first time here. At the shakedown, we did not have time."

In 2024 Aprilia struggled with their braking performance throughout the year. But Savadori insists that the Italian manufacturer has solved their stopping issues.

"Yes. This bike is a step forward compared to the old one, including in brake performance," he said.

"It is never enough. But it’s a little step in the correct way."

The improvement is both in the bike dynamics and engine braking.

"A mix," Savadori said. "The RS-25 does not have big changes. In general, the behaviour of the bike and the balance was good. We improved in some areas."
