Jake Dixon's 2024 Moto2 season was going disastrously wrong in the first five races of the year.
Before the Moto2 Catalan Grand Prix last weekend, he had failed to score a single point in 2024, but in Catalunya he arrested his poor form and scored a much-needed podium.

A week later, the championship is in Italy, where he was third in 2023 behind Italian Tony Arbolino and eventual 2023 champion Pedro Acosta, who dominated the race for the second year in succession.
Dixon's Catalunya podium last week was the first for the teams under the Pierer Mobility Group umbrella, which includes Dixon's CFMoto Aspar team, the Dynavolt Intact Husqvarna team, and the Red Bull KTM Ajo team. It's an important milestone because of the decision of PMG to switch to WP suspension (WP is owned by PMG) from the dominant Ohlins brand for this year, which has also seen Moto2 switch from Dunlop to Pirelli tyres.
“I am sure things are going to change," Dixon said ahead of the Italian Grand Prix. "In Barcelona we broke the bad streak that started at the beginning of the season and we achieved what we had been aiming for so long, and now in Mugello we will try to repeat last weekend’s good result.”
For Dixon's teammate, Izan Guevara, the Catalan GP was less positive, as he crashed out on the first lap. Ahead of the Italian Grand Prix, Guevara said. “I arrive at Mugello with great enthusiasm because in Barcelona I could not even complete a lap in the race. It is a very difficult circuit, but I am going to give everything to achieve the best possible result. We are getting stronger and we will try to fight to be ahead.”
