Nicolo Bulega completed a perfect Friday at Phillip Island as the Italian rider topped Free Practice One and Two.
The second Free Practice session of the weekend saw two manufacturers in the top seven. There were six Ducati's and one BMW that featured across the positions with 1.025 seconds separating them.
Nicolo Bulega has started his 2025 World Superbike season in the perfect way as he ends Friday on top. The Italian was fastest in Free Practice One and Free Practice Two and ended the day with a 0.406-second advantage.
Andrea Iannone ended Free Practice Two exactly where he left off Free Practice One. The Team Pata GoEleven rider appears to be Bulega's closest rival but has not matched his pace yet.
The sole non-Ducati rider inside the top seven was Toprak Razgatlioglu in sixth place on the BMW M1000 RR. The Turkish rider improved between sessions but is still 0.809 seconds between his title rival Bulega.
Barni Spark Racing Team rider, Danilo Petrucci, ended the day in fourth place. The Italian did not improve on his time from Free Practice One but ended both sessions in fourth.
Two-time World Superbike Champion, Alvaro Bautista, completed the top five on his Ducati Panigale V4 R. The Spaniard's best lap time occurred in Free Practice One, but he was only 0.095 seconds slower in the afternoon session.
Outside of the top five was Sam Lowes in sixth place on the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team Ducati. The British rider improved his time by 0.130 seconds in the afternoon and ended Free Practice Two 1.009 seconds behind Bulega.
World Superbike rookie, Yari Montella, ended his first day of practice in seventh place. The Italian set a 1:29.815 in the afternoon which was 0.474 seconds quicker than his lap time in the morning.
Alex Lowes was the sole bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team rider inside the top ten in the afternoon. However, the British rider did not beat the lap time that he set on Friday morning.
Scott Redding had a better showing in Free Practice Two as he ended the day inside the top ten. The British rider was in ninth place on the timesheets in Free Practice Two and went 0.403 seconds faster.
Completing the top ten was Michael van der Mark for the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team. The Dutch rider was 11th in Free Practice One and slightly improved his lap time in Free Practice Two.
There were two British riders outside of the top ten in Free Practice Two at Phillip Island. Ryan Vickers ended the day in 13th after a small crash on his final lap of the day. Tarran Mackenzie finished Free Practice Two in 22nd place for the Petronas MIE Honda Racing Team.
