Kyle Ryde maintained his momentum as the 2023 British Superbike Championship (BSB) resumed north of the border at Knockhill, the LAMI OMG Yamaha rider edging out Jason O’Halloran.

After a return to winning ways last time out at Donington Park, Ryde consolidated his burgeoning title credentials to lead the way in FP2 with a 47.601s, almost two tenths faster than O’Halloran.

The only McAMS Yamaha rider competing this weekend following the exit of Tim Neave, O’Halloran topped FP1 before shrugging off a crash at the start of FP2 to jump back to the top of the timesheets before Ryde nudged ahead.

Glenn Irwin headed up the BeerMonster Ducati challenge in third, the Ulsterman faring better than championship leading team-mate Tommy Bridewell, who could only manage tenth after losing time with a fall.

A podium winner at Knockhill a year ago, Lee Jackson was in fine form to secure fourth on the FS-3 Kawasaki, ahead of TT star and FHO BMW rider Josh Brookes in fifth and Christian Iddon in sixth on the Oxford Products Ducati.

Buchan - who has scored three of his six career BSB wins at Knockhill - ended Friday in seventh on the SYNETIQ BMW, heading off Ryan Vickers on the second LAMI OMG Yamaha and Charlie Nesbitt, who impressed as top rookie inside the top ten on the Hawk Honda.
