Kyle Ryde returned to the top of the timesheets on the final day of pre-season testing for the 2024 Bennetts British Superbike Championship ahead of the opening round in Navarra.

The OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing rider bounced back from a disrupted second day around the Spanish venue to prevail over Wednesday pacesetter Glenn Irwin after posting a benchmark 1m 36.374secs lap.

Good enough for him to end the three-day test with the fastest time overall, Ryde held a comfortable two tenths advantage over Irwin to put himself in good stead for this year’s curtain raising event, which gets underway this weekend.

Ryan Vickers completed OMG Yamaha’s strong build-up to the season, the Norfolk rider complementing Ryde with the third fastest time of the test, three tenths shy of his team-mate.

Leon Haslam flew the flag for BMW on the ROKiT Haslam Racing M 1000 RR after showing a strong turn of pace after his own issues on Wednesday in fourth, while Danny Kent continued to impress for McAMS Yamaha Racing to end the test in fifth place.

Josh Brookes headed up Monster Energy by FHO Racing challenge in sixth place, with team-mate Peter Hickman making it two BMWs inside the top ten in ninth place. They were split by Honda Racing UK duo Andrew Irwin and Tommy Bridewell in seventh and eighth positions, the defending champion eight tenths shy of the Ryde up top.

Jason O’Halloran completed the top ten on the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki, heading off MasterMac Honda’s Charlie Nesbitt and Oxford Racing Products Ducati’s Christian Iddon, while BSB returnee Rory Skinner on the Cheshire Mouldings BMW M 1000 RR heads into the new season as the 13th fastest rider overall.
