It is a Marquez 1-2 at the end of the first day of MotoGP Practice at the Chang International Circuit.
The first Friday Practice sessions of the 2025 Moto2 season have been completed and the Q2 places have been confirmed.
The top 10 places at the end of Friday afternoon Practice will automatically qualify for Q2 on Saturday.
Alex Marquez has claimed top spot on Friday afternoon as he set his best lap in the dying seconds. The Spaniard will be one to watch in 2025 after a promising pre-season.
Marc Marquez ends the day in second place on the factory Ducati Lenovo machine. The Spaniard was 0.052 seconds behind his younger brother.
The top KTM at the end of the first day was Pedro Acosta on the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing machine. Acosta was 0.242 seconds behind Alex Marquez and ended the day in third place.
Aprilia Racing's top rider was Marco Bezzecchi on Friday in Thailand as he ended the day in fourth. The Italian rider was 0.247 seconds behind Alex Marquez and has been impressive on the RS-GP.
Franco Morbidelli ended the day in fifth, but will likely receive a penalty after his antics in Practice. At the end of the session, the Italian was cruising on the racing line and blocked fast lap times behind him.
Honda made their way into the top ten on Friday in Thailand as Joan Mir ended up in sixth place. The Spaniard on the Honda HRC Castrol machine was 0.378 seconds off first place.
Trackhouse Racing made their way into the top ten with their new Gulf livery. Raul Fernandez was in seventh on his RS-GP after his late lap launched him up the order.
All manufacturers featured inside the top ten as Yamaha finished in eighth with Fabio Quartararo. The Frenchman was 0.465 seconds slower than the top time, but will start in the top 12 for the races.
MotoGP Rookie, Ai Ogura, will start his first MotoGP race inside the top 12. The Japanese rider ended the day in ninth for Trackhouse Racing.
Johann Zarco was the second Honda rider in the top ten at the end of Day One. The French rider took his LCR Honda Castrol machine into the Q2 places and was 0.588 seconds behind Marquez.
The big story at the end of Day One is that Francesco Bagnaia did not secure a Q2 position. The Italian was in 13th place at the end of Practice after his best lap was ruined by Morbidelli.
