Jake Dixon had a strong showing on Friday at the Twin Ring Motegi as he topped both Moto2 Practice sessions.
After topping Free Practice One on Friday morning, Jake Dixon was back at the top of the timesheets in the afternoon Practice session as he led the way in both sessions for the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team.
Home hero, Ayumu Sasaki, had a promising opening day at the Japanese Grand Prix as he ended the Practice session in second place on the RW - Idrofoglia Racing machine.
Izan Guevara was the second Boscoscuro rider inside the top five at the end of the Moto2 Practice session on Friday as the former Moto3 Champion ended the day in third place.
The Moto2 World Championship leader, Manuel Gonzalez, was inside the top five as he ended the day in fourth place on the Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP machine.
Rounding out the top five was the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 rider, Tony Arbolino. The Italian was in the top three in Free Practice One and continued his promising start into the afternoon.
Outside of the top five was the Moto2 rookie, Daniel Holgado, and the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider was in sixth place on his first visit to Japan as a Moto2 rider.
Joe Roberts was inside the top five in Free Practice One, but slipped outside of the top five in Practice and ended the day in seventh place on the OnlyFans American Racing Team machine.
After a difficult morning session, Diogo Moreira was back at the sharp end in the afternoon as he ended the opening day of track action in eighth place on the Italtrans Racing Team machine.
Zonta van den Goobergh ended both Friday Practice sessions inside the top ten, and the Dutch rider made his way into Q2 with a ninth-place finish on Friday afternoon.
Moto2 rookie Collin Veijer started his weekend in 18th place in Free Practice One, but made his way up the order to tenth in the afternoon Practice session.
