Alex Escrig threw a spanner in the works on Friday morning as he topped the Moto2 Free Practice One session.
After lengthy delays due to track conditions, Alex Escrig topped the opening Moto2 session of the weekend at Valencia for the KLINT Forward Factory Team.
Manuel Gonzalez needs to have an impressive weekend to win the Moto2 World Championship, and started his time in Valencia at the sharp end as he was second in Free Practice One.
Daniel Munoz continues to stand in for the injured Deniz Oncu at the Red Bull KTM Ajo squad and started the Valencian Grand Prix in third place.
Sergio Garcia's preparations for 2026 continue with the ITALJET Gresini Moto2 squad, and he ended the Moto2 Free Practice One session in fourth place.
Rounding out the top five was the current Moto2 World Championship leader, Diogo Moreira, who just needs to score points this weekend to clinch the title.
The Moto2 Rookie of the Year, Daniel Holgado, was outside of the top five on Friday morning as he ended up in sixth place for the CFMOTO Aspar Team.
British rider Jake Dixon was at the sharp end in the early moments of the session, but slipped back to seventh place at the end of Free Practice One.
Albert Arenas is entering his final weekend in the Moto2 World Championship, and started it off in eighth place for the ITALJET Gresini Moto2 squad.
Alonso Lopez will leave the SpeedRS Team at the end of the year and will replace Arenas at Gresini, but he started his final weekend on a Boscoscuro machine in ninth place.
Completing the top ten was the 2024 Moto3 World Champion, David Alonso, on the CFMOTO Aspar Team machine.
