Ducati GP23s locked out the top three as Marco Bezzecchi ended the session in third place. The Italian rider has been on top form recently as he looks for his second podium of the season.

Championship leader, Jorge Martin, finished behind his future Aprilia Racing teammate. The Spaniard ended the day in fourth place after a late-time attack.

The reigning World Champion, Francesco Bagnaia, was in fifth place at the end of day one. The Italian rider was less than a tenth of a second behind his title rival Martin.

The top Aprilia rider in Australia was Maverick Vinales, who finished in sixth place. The Spaniard has been the top Aprilia rider on Friday across the last few MotoGP rounds.

The top KTM rider was not the home hero, Jack Miller, or Pedro Acosta. Instead in Practice, it was Brad Binder who put the Austrian manufacturer in the top ten as he finished in seventh.

Fabio di Giannantonio will end his season early after Thailand to have surgery on his left shoulder. However, the shoulder injury does not seem to be troubling him this weekend as he ended Friday in eighth.

Prima Pramac Racing rider, Franco Morbidelli, put himself inside the top ten as he finished in ninth.

Completing the top ten on Friday was the Yamaha of Alex Rins as he finished in tenth place.
