The opening Free Practice session for MotoGP did not disappoint with Jorge Martin leading the way at the end of the session.
After Enea Bastianini dominated in Silverstone this weekend will be crucial to see if 'The Beast' is a true Championship contender.
At the end of Free Practice One the Prima Pramac rider, Jorge Martin topped the time sheets. The Spaniard is known for his fast laps straight out of the blocks but he also loves the Red Bull Ring so could be unstoppable this weekend.
Just behind Martin was his teammate, Franco Morbidelli. The Italian has had a rocky 2024 season and a good weekend in Austria is precisely what he needs.
Test rider, Pol Espargaro, finished in third place at the end of Free Practice One. The Spaniard may be retired but his experience around the Red Bull Ring shone through in the morning session.
Francesco Bagnaia is usually further down the order on a Friday. However, his day started with him in fourth place.
KTM made up fifth and sixth places at the end of the first session. Brad Binder completed the top five, with Pedro Acosta just outside in sixth after a massive crash.
The top Aprilia in this session was Maverick Vinales in seventh place. It was a dreadful session for the Italian manufacturer but Vinales is their only rider in the top 15.
Fabio Di Giannantonio ended the session in eighth place as the fourth-highest Ducati at a track they have dominated.
A Repsol Honda managed to creep into the top ten in the session's closing minutes. Joan Mir finished in ninth place.
Rounding out the top ten was Alex Marquez on the Gresini Ducati.
After having multiple lap times deleted Marc Marquez found himself way down the order in 18th place after a messy session.
