Brad Binder puts KTM on top of the pile at the end of Day One at the Japanese Grand Prix.

KTM returned to the top of the time sheets as Brad Binder topped the timed Practice session at Motegi. The Austrian manufacturer has gone well at the Japanese Grand Prix in the past and is fastest on Day One this year.

Ducati completed the top three as Gresini Racing MotoGP rider, Marc Marquez, ended the day in second place. The Championship leader of Jorge Martin was in third place as he took first blood on Day One against his title rival.

The second KTM rider inside the five was MotoGP rookie, Pedro Acosta. The Spaniard ended the day in fourth place during his first visit to Motegi as a MotoGP rider.

Despite a big crash early on in the session, Enea Bastianini ended the day in fifth place on the time sheets. The Italian rider is now 75 points behind the Championship leader after crashing out in Indonesia.

The top Aprilia is once again Maverick Vinales as he ends the day in sixth place for the Italian manufacturer.

Ducati took the remaining four spots inside the top ten as the reigning Champion, Francesco Bagnaia, ended the day in seventh place.

Gresini Racing MotoGP rider, Alex Marquez, set a quick lap time at the end of the session and launched himself into eighth.

The final two top ten positions were taken by the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team riders. Fabio di Giannantonio ended up in ninth place with Marco Bezzecchi in tenth place.
