Francesco Bagnaia is in control at the end of Friday in Malaysia as he topped the time sheets ahead of Jorge Martin.
It is advantage Francesco Bagnaia in Malaysia as the Italian claimed top spot on Friday afternoon. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider has all the work to do this weekend as he sits 17 points behind his title rival.
The Championship leader, Jorge Martin, ended the day in second place only 0.050 seconds slower than Bagnaia. However, the Spaniard ended his day on the deck after crashing at the first corner.
Completing a Ducati top-three was Enea Bastianini in third place. The second Ducati Lenovo rider said he would not listen to team orders but could take points off Martin this weekend.
The top Aprilia rider in Malaysia in the MotoGP Practice session was Maverick Vinales in fourth place. The Spaniard's race pace has not been entirely there but his Qualifying pace has been good.
Gresini Racing took fifth place with Alex Marquez on his Ducati GP23. The Spaniard had a quiet day but got about his business and claimed a Qualifying Two spot.
Monster Energy Yamaha had a positive day in Malaysia. Fabio Quartararo ended the day in sixth place with Alex Rins in eighth place with new Yamaha M1 engines.
Prima Pramac Racing rider Franco Morbidelli left it late to set a fast lap time in Sepang. The Italian rider finished in seventh place at the end of Day One.
Jack Miller finished the day in ninth place making his way into Qualifying Two for the first time since San Marino.
Rounding out the top ten was Marc Marquez who nearly missed out on a spot in Qualifying Two. The Spanish rider has not looked at the races throughout Day One but managed to squeeze into Q2.
