MotoGP San Marino, Qualifying Results: Bagnaia sets an all time lap record, VR46 lockout the front-row at home

Gold and Goose

Francesco Bagnaia sets an all-time lap record at Misano and heads a VR46 front-row lockout.

Marco Bezzecchi topped the final Practice session before Qualifying. However, all the pressure was on Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin in a crucial 15-minute session to decide the grid.

Francesco Bagnaia claims pole position at his home round at Misano. The VR46 Academy rider has been dominant at home after his terrible weekend in Aragon. If Bagnaia wants to keep his title defence alive he needs a solid weekend.

Joining Bagnaia on the front row are his fellow VR46 Academy riders. Franco Morbidelli will start from second place on the grid on his Prima Pramac Ducati. In third place is Marco Bezzecchi on the VR46 Ducati.

The Championship leader, Jorge Martin, put his Prima Pramac Ducati in fourth place. With the VR46 brigade ahead of him the Spaniard will have his hands full in the races.

KTM occupy the end of the second row. Pedro Acosta will start from fifth place on the GasGas Tech3 machine and Brad Binder in sixth on the Red Bull KTM.

Ducati have locked out the first and third rows of the grid. Alex Marquez will start from seventh place, Enea Bastianini will start from eighth and Marc Marquez at the end of the third row in ninth.

Completing the top ten is the Yamaha rider of Fabio Quartararo. The Japanese manufacturer cannot compete with the European manufacturers even at the track where Quartararo won his MotoGP title.
